Helen Keller

All the world is full of suffering.
It is also full of overcoming.
Helen Keller

According to this article here researchers have uncovered a rare photograph of a young Helen Keller with her teacher Anne Sullivan, nearly 120 years after it was taken on Cape Cod and tucked inside a family album.

Experts on Keller's life believe it could be the earliest photo of the two women together and the only one showing the blind and deaf child with a doll -- the first word Keller spelled for Sullivan after they met in 1887 -- according to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, which now has the photo.

I have good news for you. The
picture of Helen Keller shown on
your blog was shown on NBC's
Nightly News anchor Brian Williams
this evening (Wednesday, March 5,
2008). Very impressive.

I see you've earned yet ANOTHER award. hahaha! You're an award collector. I really like this picture AND that quote! She was a pretty little girl, wasn't she? And so was Anne Sullivan. It's a sweet picture. Thanks! Kim

My favorite part of Helen Keller is her ability to overcome her limitations and become successful.

Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.
Helen Keller
US blind & deaf educator (1880 - 1968)

This is my favorite quote by her. This is how we live our lives.

I'm highly skeptical of this picture and the timing it came out to public. I've heard plenty of horror stories from people who spent time with HKNC. I'm set to hear more stories like this next week at the week-long CSUN conference. I just hope this picture is real and hope its not a diversion from the truth about HKNC.

There's going to be many competing agencies trying to stifle HKNC next week.

Picture made page 2 of our national newspaper up here in the great white snowy north.
She was an inspiration to millions of people, and Ann Sullivan redefined teaching for the world.
Congrats on another great post!
