I Once Thought

I came across this wonderful poem by a new blogger, Bravo Rod and I just had to share it!

I once thought I was impaired
Until I met a man who only had one eye.

I once thought I was impaired,
Until I met a man who couldn’t lift more than 15 lbs.

I once thought I was impaired,
Until I met a man who had to use a cane.

Thank you God for taking my hearing
And not my eyes
So that I can see your beauty.

Thank you God for taking my hearing
And not my legs
So that I can ride like the wind.

Thank you God to taking my hearing
And not my brain
So that I can remember
All the grace you have given me.

In the Season of Thanksgiving
I am thankful for going deaf.

In the Season of Thanksgiving
I am thankful for not going
Blind, Lame, or Forgetful.

In the Season of Thanksgiving
What I don’t have is more blessed
Than what the world thinks I don’t have.

I Once thought
Many things

May my thoughts be your thoughts today.

Abbie,
Thank you for doing this. I wrote it just for me and it is so wonderful to know others may be encouraged by it too. Going from bitterness and my life is over issues into thanksgiving was a huge turnaround. I hope others will also make that turn. Bravo Rod

Abbie-Thanks so much for sharing and posting this. So often I've thought about the sentiments expressed here. I see so many people suffering more than me every day-- healthy hearing people with no disabilities. I've come to realize that despite the daily challenges and frustrations I've been blessed in so many, many ways.

Abbie-- there's a treasured blog award on my blog someone gave me last week. I'm passing it on to you. It's the kind of award you pass to blogs you appreciate. I always love what I read in here. Please take it, then pass it on to someone you treasure. Thanks.

:-)

Rod,
No need to thank me, thank you for letting me post this. We go through stages when coping with a hearing loss, I wasn't the nicest person in the world, I was a down right...ah you know what :) I found it to be expressed beautifully. I am thankful that I am healthy in every way except for my hearing and that poem expressed it perfectly
